What is Functional Medicine?

Functional Medicine is personalised medicine … dealing with the underlying cause and primary prevention rather than just treating the “symptoms” of chronic illness. Evaluating organs and how all the systems interrelate is a basic principle. It treats the WHY, not the WHAT? WHY is this happening, not just treating WHAT has happened.

Functional Medicine laboratory tests may examine blood, hair, stool, urine or saliva in order to gain more insight into your nutritional status, digestive function, allergies, hormones, detoxification capacity, genetic predisposition and more.

This means that in her practice, Cassi can interpret your pathology using a nutritional medicine context, which will provide more insight into your health and assist in optimising your treatment.  For example, depression is NOT a Prozac Deficiency! High Cholesterol is NOT a Lipitor deficiency! What is really going on to cause these illnesses?

Some laboratory tests have been listed under separate tabs, but this list is not exhaustive.
