About Me …
“Passionate About Empowerment”
BHSc (Naturopathy), D.Th.D, D.N.Med, D.Iridol
I’ve always loved health – learning about it, reading research, being fascinated by the body and how it worked, understanding food and nutrients and the way it communicates to our cells. I had my own health issues when younger – bad asthma since a baby as well as allergies which lasted for well over 40 years – which I am happy to be free of now. I first studied Nutritional Medicine and Iridology in London many moons ago, in the 1990s. I wanted more, and graduated with a Bachelor of Health Science Degree (Naturopathy) in 2007.
Not only did I love learning, I discovered I love teaching. I completed further studies in Education, and started lecturing after graduating in the same year at the Endeavour College of Natural Medicine. I’m still there over 12 years later, and just as in love with teaching and mentoring students as when I began – both in the classroom and supervising in the student public clinic. Not only do I enjoy teaching students, but I strongly believe in the Natural Medicine Principle “Docere as Teacher” …. educating my clients on wellness – not just the “what to do”, but the “why you need to” is so important in understanding not just the changes needed to be made for wellness, but to understand the journey that may have led to imbalance in the first place.
Mix my nerdiness with empathy and humour, and that is the type of practitioner I am. I’m passionate about empowerment – it is your journey but I am here to champion you and help you make better choices to guide you towards your health goals. The nerd in me loves to research, to understand what is happening at a biochemical and pathophysiological level, and to study pathology and functional reports. The empathetic practitioner in me will care, listen, be non-judgemental, honour your story, give you time and a safe space to be you. The comedian in me will enjoy a good laugh with you. Humour is an amazing remedy.
I practice Functional Medicine (medicine that addresses the underlying causes of disease) that deals with a wide range of conditions – including skin issues, mental health, immune issues, fertility problems, fatigue, stress, digestive issues and weight. Your health will be assessed by me on foundations of holistic philosophy which also encourages a preventative approach to empower clients to achieve and maintain wellness. At times, this includes the use of the latest laboratory testing and other diagnostic techniques, combined with therapeutic diets, supplements, herbs, stress-management techniques, etc. Providing practical nutritional and lifestyle advice combined with herbal medicine, I create individual wellness programs for YOU – each one is different.
I was blessed to practice at The Medical Sanctuary clinic rooms for 12 years, and have now moved my practice to my home based clinic to allow for more flexibility for my clients and educational commitments.
I am registered with the Australian Natural Therapies Association (ANTA) as well as the Australian Register of Naturopaths and Herbalists (ARONAH).
I love animals, and have two fur babies which you may meet. Introducing my girls, Ruby and Molly ….. (don’t worry, if you don’t like dogs they will definitely not be in the treatment room, and I will ensure they are not going to disturb you on arrival).
If you are sick and tired of being sick and tired, book a consult today and take that first step towards getting back on the path to wellness – you deserve it !!
